Catching up - October

I had first of 2 flu shots (the 1st year you have to get 2, not sure why).   I am definitely testing my  balance and ability to stand without holding on to anyone/anything. I try out new sounds all the time and will babble to myself for awhile sometimes!

I got that 8th tooth Mommy knew was coming in!  Now when you look at me you can see all 8 when I smile!

I am trying to walk - I take 2 steps or so and plop down - and it's so funny - I laugh and laugh!

I went to play with other kids twice this week - Mommy said it was interesting to see me react - one boy kept taking every toy I started playing with, but then his arms got full and I finally had something to play with.  His dad kept telling him to share, but he didn't want to.

I decided I will be Mickey Mouse for Halloween - I tried on my costume and saw myself in the mirror, and I like it! Mommy and Daddy just need to order something for my arms and legs now so I'm not too cold.

The movie Cats and Dogs with the animals talking - is SO FUNNY!!!  I laugh and laugh and laugh!!!

By the 25th, I was  trying to walk - taking up to 4 steps now and then falling.  My least favorite word is "no", I doesn't like to be out of sight of either Mommy or Daddy, and when they are both home, they both need to be in my sights at all times!

Happy Halloween!

Catching up - September

September highlights:

I turned 10 months - aren't I cute???. I walk if someone hold my hands, and I’m definitely cruising along the furniture. Mommy thinks I may be cutting another tooth too, with the way my mouth is like a waterfall. I can point and cross my fingers (only on one hand), roll my tongue (sideways!) I like Special K cereal – I like to eat whatever Mommy’s eating.

I’ve been giving them a hard time going to sleep. I don’t like the word “no” at all. Sometimes I cry when they tell me that. I also scared them by climbing up 3 steps – hehe!

Mommy and Daddy are having a hard time figuring out how to put the stupid childproof locks on the cabinets! Daddy had a championship game for hockey too, and he didn’t win, but I had fun. The one girl who comes to watch her boyfriend play – I liked her. She had long red hair. I crawled around for awhile, and then went up to her and crawled up to standing at her knees. She smiled at me and talked to me! Then she picked me up – Mommy couldn’t believe I let her hold me so long. Then she tried to give me back to Mommy at the end of the game when it was time to go, but I like her – I didn’t want to go! Then we went outside, and Meg brought her dog and I petted it and it licked me! She licked my face and I laughed! It tickled. So fun!

I went to my first birthday party – Happy Birthday Caroline! It was at Gymboree. We got there late b/c I took a late nap that day. We started a new session of swim class, and I got to be an example! I am walking very well up the ramp at the pool to get out now!

Catching up - July's end and August

By the end of July, I discovered that I LOVE avocado! I got my 6th tooth, and I’ve been really clingy.

I am pulling up to standing pretty regularly, trying to cruise but not quite there yet, hate getting my diaper changed – I roll over on the changing table - it's like a wrestling match. I eat some regular solid food now, stage 3 jarred stuff, but I’m more a savory flavor guy, I don't like sweets! Mommy says she’s not sure we’re related.

I also don’t like it when Mommy or Daddy go away – they call it separation anxiety, and I’ve recently started biting, but they keep saying “no” when I do that.

In August, I could pull to stand regularly and I crawl using my knees now (not just commando style). Then I could walk a little if Mommy or Daddy hold my hands and walk behind me – it is FUN!

I also like grapes (but now Mommy knows why they say to peel the skins!) I am also very good at eating cheerios and puffs by himself (although hot and cold on purees, you just never know).

I still have problems with the separation anxiety – Grandma and Granddad were here over the weekend and I wouldn't go to them much if at all – I only want Mommy or Daddy.

Grandma and Granddad came to visit me another weekend, and Grandma came to swim class to take pictures this time! We used lifejackets today in the beginning of class and I didn't fuss about putting it on - and I floated on my back all by myself in it for awhile! I was also reaching for the wall and holding on to it today (which I have not previously been doing).

I also discovered that I can scream/screech at random times and everyone looks at me! Everyone says I startle them. Here is my 9 month picture:

My first trip to Gravely!

Today Mommy and Daddy took me to Gravely  - a field out by the airport where you can watch planes.  I saw those BIG planes fly over, and every time I saw one, I grabbed on to Mommy or Daddy real tight, started shaking, and just followed the plane until it landed.  Then I would say "buh" (Daddy's translation: Baby's version of Holy Crap!).

We also walked to the river and I saw the water, then Mommy put out a blanket on the grass and we sat there and watched more planes.  I also got to watch a bunch of other kids playing with their families.

After that, we ran some errands and went to Chili's to eat dinner - I got some avocado and had some corn.  It was really good, but I was more interested in the people around me, especially the little boy who was a year or so older than me.  Everyone around us said I was a really good and quiet baby (I had them fooled!)!

Mommy realizes we need to do a lot of filling in - and we will.  I have a bunch of monthly pictures to show you all (if you haven't seen them on facebook already).  We will talk to you all soon!

July part 3!

7/19 - Mommy and I were sitting on the floor in her and Daddy's room, and looking in the full length mirror on the door.  She stood up to walk away, and I watched her in the mirror - then looked for her in person to make sure she was still there. :)   We played peek-a-boo for awhile that day!

That same night, we tried avocado for dinner.  Mommy had to call some friends to see how to open it (she doesn't eat it and didn't know how to open it for me!) :)   But it was really yummy!  Then she put the rest of it into a container with a tiny bit of lemon juice to keep it from going brown.  I ate this for the next 2-3 days until I finished it all!  I really like when Mommy feeds it to me on a fork.

7/20 - I said "dada" and "daddy" and "baby" today!  I know who daddy is, but I only say baby every so often now.  I also get embarrassed when they ask me to say it!

That tricky 6th tooth finally came through - on the upper left side!  Now I have 4 teeth on top and 2 on the bottom, and Daddy said he thinks he sees another one getting ready to come through on the bottom.  I am also BITING everything i can put in my mouth, including Mommy and Daddy's arms and shoulders!  They don't like it when I do that.  But I forget.

7/22 - 7/24 - We took another drive up to Philly. I don't mind the trip but I get tired of being buckled in my car seat after a while. Mommy and Daddy stop to give me a break and let me stretch my legs. The hotel was very nice and the bed was really big!!! On Saturday we went to the Phillies game but it was too hot. I did get a cool certificate that said it was my first Phillies game. Daddy framed it with the ticket and he is going to hang it in my room. Mommy also bought me a little Phillie Phanatic. Maybe next time we go the weather will be a little bit better and I will get to meet him (although I'm not sure how much I will like him at first. He's really big!) I also got to see Grandmom and Grandpop H, Uncle Jonathan and some of Daddy's friends. It was fun but I was VERY happy to be back home!

7/24 - I tried honeydew melon (Mommy put some in my mesh feeder) and liked it!  It's kinda like watermelon - juicy!   Thank you to Grandpop for sharing with me :)

7/25 - I faked Mommy  out at bedtime.  I pretended I was asleep, and as soon as she put me down my eyes popped open and I smiled and started crawling around!  hahaha!  But then she picked me up and rocked and I couldn't stay awake any longer.  I was a tired boy and I fell asleep.

7/26 - at dinner tonight, I ate 1/2 of a banana!  That's alot!  I also had some watermelon and some puffs.

7/27 - I tried toast!  It takes me awhile to chew and swallow a little piece but I like it!  We also had some savory chicken and vegetables from a jar - that was really good!!!

I have a new trick too - I'm now pulling up to standing regularly in crib, on couch, chairs, etc.  I've
tried a few times to move my arms down the couch without the legs following, but it doesn't work.  Mommy and Daddy said I will soon be "cruising!"  I'm also learning how to sit/fall down on my own too, so I doesn't get stuck standing too long!  I did that one day at the gate to the kitchen and had to cry until Daddy came to get me.

7/28 - Mommy tried to give me some of the mixed fruit in yogurt from the jar, but it was too sweet for me - yucky!

Mommy and Daddy have been having a lot of fun making me laugh!

I like when they get down onto the floor and play with me. I watch them toss my rings or the O-Ball in the air, play with my stuffed animals (especially Grover and Skipper from the Penguins of Madagascar) and roll my cups on the floor. We also like to play hide and seek a lot.

Daddy is very happy that I don't wake up crying from my nap anymore. Usually I will just lay there for a little bit and watch TV with him. It's either Nickelodeon, Disney Channel or ESPN (well at least until hockey season starts again.)

8 months old! (late post)

Happy 8 month birthday to me!  Look how happy I am!

Daddy's getting pretty creative with these circles on my chest :)

And no more laying down on the job - I'll be sitting for these pictures until further notice.

July, Part 2?

Here's what's happened in the beginning part of July!

July 5 - Mommy took me to the pool in the complex again - and I made a friend - he's 12.  Hopefully I will see him again some time!  I did really well in the pool again - I love it there!

July 9th - Happy 8 month birthday to me!

7/11 - Mommy took me to my first swim class at the big indoor pool at the Rec Center.  "Grandma Sandy" is our swim teacher.  She told us some rules, then we all walked down the (wheelchair) ramp into the pool.  We did 3 bounces to get warmed up and then we played some games, sang some songs, kicked while the grownups were moving us on our tummies and our backs!  There are really cool lights on the ceiling!  And there's a room off to the side of the pool where the lifeguards keep the bright orange colored vests - I kept looking in there!  Mommy's friend came to the class with her husband and daughter, Caroline.  Caroline didn't like the pool very much.  She cried a lot.  Some of the songs we sang were Wheels on the Bus, Ring around the Rosie, and the Hokey Pokey.  I really liked the Hokey Pokey - it was so much fun!  But this whole thing tired me out, and I slept for a 1/2 hour in the car on the way home... Mommy kept driving around so I wouldn't wake up.

July 13th - Mommy and Daddy had pasta for dinner - so I got to have some of it (plain).  It was good, but it has kind of a weird texture!  During this next week, I got to have watermelon at dinner!  I like that it's very juicy and I can suck all the water out and then eat what's left.  :)  I also ate about 1/4 of a banana each night!

7/17 - This wasn't such a good day :(  Mommy and I were playing on her bed, and I got to crawling too fast and went BOOM, right over the edge!  I hit my head on the floor and had a small cut and a big bump!  Mommy called it a goose egg.  It really scared me, and I think it scared Mommy and Daddy too.  But 20 minutes later, I was fine - just playing with all my toys!  But Mommy said "no more Billys jumpin on the bed"... I thought it was monkeys?

The next day, I went to swim class again!  This time Caroline didn't cry - she seemed to like it.  Grandma Sandy told us she won't be here next week, but we would have a someone else fill in - and her name is Sandy too!  Mommy cracked up at this, but I don't get it. But as long as I get to play in the water, I'm fine!  I LOVE the water!  Today the adults learned how to get into the pool with us if there isn't a ramp to walk down.  They were also trying to get me to hold onto the wall, but I didn't want to.  Oh, and we did Humpty Dumpty!  When he falls, I get to go into the water!!!!

I can sit up all by myself!

Thanks to Aunt Panda for the pictures.  We will miss you!

I have been trying SO hard to learn to sit up on my own, and yesterday I finally did it!  Here are a couple of action shots:

Almost there...

All the way up!

What?  Did I do something special??

Mommy and Daddy said they were so proud of me.  I like to practice my new skill now!!! :)

Eating solid foods, kinda

Mommy had another post about what I was eating, but she couldn't keep it up, so we're just going to tell you that I am a good eater most of the time.  I've had carrots, green beans, peas, squash, apples, bananas (not a fan), beef and gravy, turkey and gravy, chicken and gravy, blueberries (mixed with apples), pears (not a fan), peaches (not a fan), corn, sweet potatoes, and maybe some other things we can't remember.  I'm also eating those Gerber Puffs and Baby Mum Mums (we're fans of the original and vegetable, but haven't tried banana yet!), but Mommy will break them up first before I can have them so that I don't choke.

We went out to eat at several places - Outback, Subway, Don Pablo's - and each time, I wanted to eat while Mommy and Daddy were eating!  So, they had brought along some of my food, and I scarfed it down like they didn't feed me all day!

The other big thing is that I have at least 4 more teeth coming in on the top!  3 are through, the last one is trying to break in.  All that has happened in about 3 days!  It's not all fun, as it hurts a lot.  In fact, I slept for a couple of hours the other night, but  then woke everyone up at midnight and kept them up until 4.  The motrin didn't help, and neither did a bottle or chewing on any of my rings.  I hope they come in soon and my mouth stops hurting!

Random June notes

It's been nice outside around dusk, so Mommy and I have been going outside for short periods of time to blow bubbles on the porch!  At first, I didn't know what these were, but then I realized I could catch them and they would disappear.  How FUN!!

I've also started commando crawling (with my tummy on the ground like a soldier!) and I get faster everyday!  Daddy once accidentally knocked over his empty Gatorade bottle, and that's now my favorite toy to chase around on the floor!  Towards the end of the month, Mommy and Daddy had to put away the CDs and DVDs and their racks because I thought it would be fun to use them to pull up on, but they said it was dangerous.   Mommy and Daddy had installed some gates last month, but they were leaving the gate part open because I couldn't really get there, but now they keep them closed so I can't get anywhere to get in trouble!

Mommy said she's been waiting for this other milestone - when I sleep on my tummy, I stick my butt in the air.  She thinks it's funny, but I don't get it.

Also towards the end of the month, I started to figure out how to sit up - I am on my tummy, I get on my knees  with my butt in the air, and I rock forward and back, then turn my hips to sit on my butt.  I'm really trying to get this to work, but I have trouble pushing my body off the ground with my hands.  I LOVE to sit up, but Mommy and Daddy usually have to put me that way.  I did manage to get back up once, but I was pushing off Mommy's legs. I will figure it out someday!

We miss you Grandpop D!

After we took my 7 month picture and posted it, Daddy's Grandpop passed away.  We went up to PA for the funeral and so that we could be with family.  Here is a picture of me with Daddy and his Grandpop.

He was sick for a long time, but it is still very strange that he is gone.  Mommy and Daddy miss him very much.  He talked about me all the time!

During this trip, I was all out of sorts - napping 30 minutes here and there.  They introduced me to so many new people and we were at a bunch of different places.  I knew something was up because everyone seemed sad, so I tried to be good.  I took my bottles when I was supposed to, but sleeping in the hotel was scary because they didn't have any nightlights there!  So Daddy bought some one day at Target.

We also met up with some of Daddy's friends - BJ, Brian & Leslie and their kids, Clark (who is only a week older than me!) & Chloe - and Uncle Jonathan and Khara!  It was fun to meet Clark! We watched the Phillies game on these HUGE TVs at Champps and ate some good food!

Here is another picture of Mommy and Daddy with Grandpop D shortly after they got engaged!
  We miss you!

How cute am I?  I am laughing like crazy here!

I love my Mommy and Daddy!

Gated in

I finally learned how to creep further and further, so Mommy and Daddy decided it was time to gate me in!
They ordered this cool playyard for me.  Look at all my toys!  They put it on top of those mats so that it doesn't slide around.  I like it because I don't have to chase my ball or other toys as far, LOL.
Mommy also ordered these gates and extension to keep me in the living room.  So far, I don't mind them.  It's been fun to crawl around everywhere.  The other day, Daddy left his empty bottle of Gatorade on the floor, and I batted it.  I ended up all over the living room chasing that bottle.  Daddy said my hands were too little to grab it and that's why I couldn't catch it!

Memorial Day weekend

We started a bedtime routine the week before Memorial Day.  First we take a bath in the little tub - I play with my rubber ducky and the cup Mommy uses to wash/rinse my hair!  It is fun.  I am such a big boy that I SIT UP in the bath everynight now!

After that, we put on jammies and a nighttime diaper and Mommy reads me 2 books in my room.  Then we will go get a bottle - sometimes we will sit downstairs with Daddy and sometimes we just have it up in my room.  I drink the whole thing, and I usually fall asleep.  But when I don't, we listen to the music from one of my toys and I curl up and fall asleep on Mommy and then we go to bed.

On Memorial Day weekend, Grandma and Granddad B came to visit me!  They came on Saturday and Mommy had me all ready to go to the pool.  Here are some pictures of me all ready to go!  Like my hats???

I LOVED it! It was great! We went to the big pool and we were in the little pool for a bit too.  I like watching the kids play and splash, and on Monday we went back and I splashed too!  Here I am sitting on the chair for Grandma!

After swimming on Saturday, we all went to Outback and had a yummy dinner.  I of course wanted to eat anything on the table that I could get my hands on, but Mommy said no.  She did have some peas for me though, and I ate those while Grandma cut her food and she ate a little at a time.   On Sunday, they came over again.  We were going to go to a basketball game, but I was really tired and cranky, and we decided to stay home.  I had a fun weekend though!

I've also been learning how to move around!  I'm "creeping" to get forward - like a commando crawl on my tummy where I use my arms to pull myself forward.  I'm trying to use my legs, but I can't figure out how to get them to work when I want them too yet!

old post

I have still been teething a lot.  I chew on everything I can put into my mouth.  Mommy and Daddy try not to give me the Tylenol more than once/day.  I have a few teething rings that are kept in the refrigerator, and this toothbrush thing Mommy bought that I really like to chew on!  I really just want to be close to mommy and daddy most of the time though.

The other night, there was a HUGE noise outside when I was sleeping!  And there was light!  They told me it was a thunderstorm with thunder (the boomy noises) and lightning (the quick light flashes).  I did pretty well.  I just watched it and woke up when it was too loud, but I didn't cry!

I have been turning on my tummy - can go in a complete circle, but usually I just go backwards when trying to go forward.

2nd tooth!

We have 2 teeth!  The bottom right one came through last night.

We'll try to get a picture as soon as he lets us!  YAY!

I grew!

We had my 6 month checkup at the doctor's yesterday.  She was very pleased!  We saw the same doc that we saw at the 4 day checkup/consult.  We really like her!  Here are my new stats:

I weigh: 17 lbs 4oz (50th percentile),
I am 27" tall! (75th percentile - this is a change from the 50th), and
my head is 17.5" in circumference (75th percentile)!

I also - have a TOOTH that broke through!  Mommy and Daddy didn't know b/c I'm not fond of letting people look in there - that place hurts - leave me alone, people!  I bit the dr's tongue depressor in half while she was trying to look.  She was happy that I was eating one "meal" of solid food per day, but suggested we start 2 - adding one in the morning.  The doctor also said I could have Mum-Mums (Mommy's friend from work brought her in a pack so I could try) - we tried these the other day - I was very excited about them because I could hold it and put it in my mouth and no one yelled at me!  However, it didn't go very well b/c a piece broke off and didn't dissolve right away and I started choking on it.... so we'll wait a few weeks or so before we try another one.

Mommy and Daddy (who didn't go because he is still sick - his new antibiotic makes him feel like he's drunk!) were hoping the doctor would increase the dose of my Prevacid, but apparently that doesn't go by weight like most other medicines for me.  But she did tell Mommy that instead of 1 tsp of rice cereal in the 4oz bottle, we should put 4 tsp in it. So Mommy tried to refill the old prescription, but it only had 10 days worth left - not 30 days worth - but it said I had 1 refill - who knew things could work this way??? CRAZY.  So Mommy will have to call the dr on Monday to get another prescription for me.

Mommy convinced them to only give me one shot, so we get the Prevnar when we go back in 2-4 wks.  We had the Pentacel and the last dose of the oral Rototeq.  I was very good last night and today I've been very chill and just want to relax... so we're guessing it was either the Prevnar or the combination of vaccines last time that made me so miserable.

We tried carrots the other day, and oatmeal is a go too!  We're expanding our food intake! This morning we tried mixing a little apple in with the oatmeal, and that went well.  So we'll just watch for the reaction from that.

Tomorrow we are going to watch Daddy play hockey outside!  Getting some Vitamin D!  Maybe I'll get to wear my cool new hat.

Happy 6 month Birthday!

No one can believe it's been 6 months already.  Or is it only 6 months?

How CUTE am I??????

Well, since we never got around to updating with the 5 month picture, that's in here too :)

Mommy and Daddy have noticed that I'm getting lots of eyelashes lately, and that my hair is coming in faster too!  I am practicing sitting up, but I can't quite do it for very long by myself yet.  I prefer to be standing anyway!  I'm also getting agitated when people don't play with me all the time!  Mommy and Daddy are hoping this is a phase, but aren't sure.  We go to see the doctor for the 6 month well visit on Friday, so hopefully we will get some answers then.  We're also hoping for an increase in the Prevacid dose!  I think I can have Motrin now too, but since the recall, Mommy only bought the generic Tylenol.  She has to get the generic motrin yet.

We just got a new camera today, so hopefully it will be easier to catch some of my smiles!  See you all later!

Happy Mother's Day!

Uncle Mike called this morning from Basic Training - he said he's done with Basic and has started AIT - he wished Mommy a happy first mother's day!  We also talked to Grandma this morning, and she and Granddad were taking Gma to Outback for lunch for Mother's Day.  More about Mother's Day later!

The other night, Mommy bought me a Nap Nanny, and I've been taking a few of my naps in it.  I like it ok.  It keeps me at an incline to help my reflux.  It's basically a big piece of foam to help position me while I sleep.  I also like to use it as a recliner to watch tv :)  Here's a picture:
Daddy and I got Mommy some cards for Mother's Day!  She was very happy reading them!  We also got her a book called Baby Laughs... Jenny McCarthy wrote it - the same woman who wrote Belly Laughs, which is a book Mommy read when I was in her belly :)

They used me as a model........

So Daddy had this project to do for school, something about a self-portrait in a parody of a movie poster. So Mommy and Daddy dressed me up and put this silly hat and Mommy's sunglasses on me and took a bunch of pictures with that thing with the bright light. They even tried to make me sit up by myself, but I just kept falling over and Mommy would sit me back up. Then I threw my head back and hit the wall, so they decided it was time for the Bumbo.

I still think I look pretty darn cute :)

Hockey and a correction

We went to go see Daddy's hockey team play in the championship game tonight! They lost, but I cheered for the Nutcrackers! :) Daddy wasn't playing because he still wasn't feeling great from the weekend. I was still cute though!!

We had another successful meal of squash tonight!

and Mommy didn't realize it, but my Jumperoo is still at the same level, it's just the Exersaucer that was moved up!

Catching up, part 1

We will try to fill in what happened since we last posted...

We had Easter at home - Mommy hid plastic Easter Eggs for Daddy (since neither of them eat hard boiled eggs), and I had fun watching Daddy look for them! I could see most of them, but Mommy told me not to tell him where they were - Daddy tried to get me to tell, but I didn't! I was a good boy!

I had lots of Easter cards and everyone loves me! And I love them! Happy Easter!

The next weekend (4/10), we went to visit Grandma and Granddad B, but I had a meltdown on the way there, and we got stuck in traffic, so we stopped at Grandmom and Grandpop H's to wait out the traffic. I was a cranky baby and didn't want anyone but Mommy or Daddy to hold me. With all the delays, we never made it to see Grandma that night - we went straight to the hotel. I am only good for about 2 hours in the car - then I am DONE. D-O-N-E done. I must be out of the car. When we finally made it to Grandma B's the next day, we had lunch and then I had some presents to open! I got summer clothes and some new toys!

Until this point, I was not very good at eating. The dr had told us at the 4 month appt in March that we could start solid foods, but I wasn't even having much of the rice cereal, I really just wanted the bottle! So Grandma showed Mommy how to feed me while holding me, rather than having me in a high chair. It was fun! I ate that whole tsp of cereal in a hurry! Later than night, Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, Granddad, G-ma, cousin Taylor, Uncle Mark and Jenn all went to a dinner for Grandma, where she got an award for volunteering! YAY! Before they left, they took me over next door to meet Donna, and she watched me for a few hours. She seemed a little overwhelmed by all the stuff Mommy brought, but she didn't need most of it. My teeth weren't bothering me much. We played and her kids and husband came home from dinner and played with me too. I had fun!

Mommy didn't realize until later that I never got to see G-ma that day. We were sad. Sorry, G-ma - we will make it up to you next time!

The next day, we went to Grandmom H's and I took a nap over at Charlotte's in her pack and play. It's a good thing she has that for her grandkids, Chloe and Clark. It was a nice place to sleep. Thanks, Charlotte! Then I hung out with Mommy while Daddy and his friends watched the hockey game. They scared me when they cheered because it was so loud - I was crying - I didn't know what was going on! I calmed down eventually and then Grandmom took me for a walk in a stroller they borrowed from cousin Bobby. Mommy and Daddy learned the lesson of not going anywhere without a stroller! Then Mommy and Daddy had dinner out at Champps while Grandmom and Grandpop watched me :) We left the next day to come home - we were all glad to sleep in our own beds!

More later...

April showers bring May flowers!

What a HOT weekend! It's beautiful to look at - in the 90s today! Wish the pool was open.

Mommy hasn't updated in awhile, so we're going to hit the highlights from this past week.

-I do NOT like bananas
-I do like squash, peas, and sweet potatoes. I believe carrots and green beans are up next ;)
-I have been doing great with eating!
-Daddy has moved both my Jumperoo and Exersaucer up to the next level! I am growing! No books needed underneath!
-I survived a night with Daddy while he was sick and Mommy was out at a pre-retirement party for one of her professors from college
-Today I was having some tummy time on my mat,and I spun myself around in a complete circle! I was actually trying to reach something, but I couldn't get to it and just kept spinning myself around :)
-The past couple of weeks I have visited both of Daddy's college classes so the students and professors could see me - they've all been hearing about me since I was in Mommy's tummy, and they wanted to see me in person. I did not disappoint! I was a smiley baby and loved them all!

Mommy is putting together her list of questions for my 6 month doctor's appt, which will be in a couple of weeks. I will be 6 months old on Mother's Day! Mommy is very happy about that!

Noisy baby

Here I am in my exersaucer - I really want to break this open and get to the things inside. I get really mad when I can't! Daddy thinks it's great that I take one of the other toys on here and try to bang on this to get it to open - how good of me to problem solve like that!

Lately I've been testing out new sounds and squeals - sounds like I'm mad sometimes but I can't be, because I'm still smiling! Mommy and Daddy think it's too funny. They love to listen to me. The one night, I made the weird sound, and I started pulling up on my bib with one hand like I was trying to hang myself with it! Mommy and Daddy cracked up laughing! So I kept doing it!

Also, Mommy had a biospy done of a mole on her shoulder - the rest results came back, and all is normal. YAY!

A few weeks ago...

The weather started getting really nice, so Mommy started taking me for walks outside! That is so much fun! There are all kinds of things to look at and hear - people talking, kids playing, dogs barking, cars going by. The sun gets in my eyes sometimes, so Mommy bought me a cute pair of Winnie the Pooh sunglasses at CVS. I wear them in the car too sometimes!

The weekend after St Patrick's Day, Grandma and Granddad B came to visit. Grandma thought Mommy needed a smaller stroller to get up and down the stairs, so she bought me a Cars themed umbrella stroller at Kmart! It's black and orange and has Lightning McQueen on it! I love it! It's fun to take walks in that stroller too. Mommy also went to a consignment sale that day and got some lighter PJs for me to wear and also some summer clothes, including a swim suit! She can't wait to take me in a pool and teach me how to swim!

Mommy took me to see Daddy play hockey again that Monday. I was good during the game, but I had a meltdown on the way home. They think I was overstimulated. I don't know, I just know I was unhappy and I had to tell someone about it - VERY LOUDLY! Mommy's heart was racing and so she dropped me and Daddy off at home and went to pick up Wendy's for dinner.

The next weekend, Grandmom and Grandpop H came to visit me for the first time! They came on Friday while Mommy was still at work. We had lots of fun with them. Grandpop was a little scary though. His hair was out of control! But he did pick up my first pair of chucks (shoes)! Mommy posted a picture of those the other day on here! They also gave me Easter cards from them and GreatGrandmom H. There were baby chicks and bunnies and everyone loves me, they say! Oh, and I got a big yellow fuzzy duck too! I talk to him when I'm playing in my crib. :)

We're rollin' rollin' rollin'...

I rolled over onto my tummy twice last night, and Daddy got scared so he had Mommy roll me back onto my back, but then Mommy had me on the floor today (in the new office!), and I rolled from my belly to my back 3 times in a row! Mind you, I was not happy about it. I was tired. :)

Since Mommy and Daddy had a leak above Daddy's computer, he moved a bunch of stuff from his desk into the other room and then had an idea to take the computer and desk into the guest room. This developed into turning the guest room into an office! We put the bed up on Freecycle (www.freecycle.org), and everything else is in place. Mommy and Daddy have to find places to put all the stuff that was under and on that bed though!

Happy St Patrick's Day!

Ok, so it's a little late, but how cute am I? I'm playing peekaboo with Daddy in this picture.

This next picture shows the back of the special outfit Grandma and Granddad got me - it says My 1st St Patrick's Day! The third picture shows the bib a little better - it says Kiss Me I'm Irish!

My first pair of Chucks!

When Grandmom and Grandpop came this past weekend, they brought me my first pair of shoes - Chuck Taylor's! (I won't be able to wear they for awhile because they are too big, but Mommy thought her friend Troy would really appreciate this post :) )

The week after...

The week after my dr's visit was eventful! Mommy and Daddy thought that we were getting new windows on Monday, but since the weather was bad, the men decided to come back on Tuesday. On Monday, I was really fussy all day, and Daddy called Mommy and asker her to come home early from work so that she could help with me. I was running a fever, so they gave me Tylenol at 8:30pm, and I did pretty well until about 11:30-12midnight. So they gave me more Tylenol at 12:30 and I went to sleep soon after that. Mommy called out of work on Tuesday to stay home with me, and give Daddy a break since it was his birthday! The window guys came back and gave us new window, and of course there were problems with the way the previous owners replaced the windows before - they didn't remove the original frames, so there was water damage, and we had to have the handyman come and fix the window sills. After dinner, Mommy and I gave Daddy his cards from us and his present from us (Mommy got him a subscription to The Hockey News and also stayed home today!!). Here's a picture of the picture frame I got for Daddy :)
Last week, Mommy was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, an autoimmune disorder which affects the thyroid. But now she's taking medicine, and she's feeling a little better. She goes back to her doctor next month to see if she needs to change the dose of her medicine.

It's been awhile...

Let's see, since the last post, I've been to the dr, Daddy had a birthday, St Patrick's Day came and went, Mommy and Daddy had an anniversary, Grandma and Granddad B came to visit and now Grandmom and Grandpop are here!

So on Friday 3/12, I went to the dr. Our doctor had gone home sick, but another one came in to see her patients. Mommy made the mistake of not doing all her homework before approaching the doctor about an alternate vaccination schedule. So, we ended up getting most the recommended vaccines: Rototeq (oral for rotovirus), Prevnar (shot 2 of 4), and the Pentacel shot (combines Hib, IPV and DTaP). The one she agreed to postpone was the hepatitis B shot, which he will get at his 9 month visit.

Stats from this visit:
  • weight: 14lbs 15oz (50th percentile)
  • length: 25 1/4 inches (50th percentile)
  • head circumference: 16 3/4 inches (75th percentile)

We also talked to the dr about sleep training (she gave us an article, but recommended we set a time frame to get him sleeping in his crib), told her we started him on the soy formula, and also asked her about giving him more than 4 oz at a time (she said we could try it and see what happens). We tried the 6 oz the next day (Saturday), but he spit up probably 2 oz of it. Then we tried about a week later and he only spit up an ounce. Maybe we'll try again in another week or so, but for the most part, he just gets 4oz of formula (with 1 tsp of rice cereal) at each feeding. The dr also gave us a paper on starting solid foods. There will be a separate post (with pictures!) on that. :)

Note from Mommy: That weekend was also daylight savings time. Didn't really affect sleeping times, he was just cranky/fussy all weekend. On Monday, he was running a fever of 101.9, so we just took a layer of clothes off to cool him down a bit. He was better by Tuesday.

I'm 4 months old!

Well, Mommy has been finding it difficult to get this updated since she's been back to work full time. She and Daddy have been having fun watching me discover new things lately:
  • I can see things and grab them purposefully now - well, most of the time!
  • I am much more stimulated by visual things rather than audio ones (which has basically been the case since I was born!).
  • I still LOVE to stand!
  • Mommy and Daddy bought me a tray for my Bumbo - and the first thing I did was figure out how to remove it!
I go to see the doctor on Friday for my 4 month checkup - which will include some shots. Mommy said we're going to talk to do the dr about an alternative vaccination schedule so that I don't have anymore than 3 vaccinations going in me at once.

We started on soy formula last week to see if that would help with my gas issues - it seems to be helping! The last time we saw the dr (2/15), she recommended we start adding rice cereal (one tsp) to each bottle (4oz). This seems to fill me up a bit more, since I can only have 4oz at a time due to my reflux issues. Mommy and Daddy are looking forward to when I grow out of that!

Dr followup appt

Today we went back to the doctor's office to follow up on the reflux issue. Since we weren't seeing much of a difference with the Zantac, she decided to give us a prescription for Prevacid, but we're not supposed to fill it for a few days. Instead, we are trying a teaspoon of rice cereal in my bottles. Oh, and my new weight is 13 lbs, 10 oz today!

I also got a bunch of new toys over the weekend, and Daddy took pictures! I got a Monkey that sings, an Oball, Sophie the giraffe, a tray for my Bumbo... look at all my stuff!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm 3 months old!

I'm 3 months old today! Can you believe it?

We have had a lot of snow in the last week! It snowed last weekend, and this past weekend we got 28 MORE inches! Tonight we're getting some too - up to 14 inches MORE! I have not been out in the snow, but I've watched a lot of it from the window. Unfortunately, Mommy and Daddy now have an unplanned waterfall in their bedroom.... they keep saying how this is probably going to cost them a lot of money (unless the condo association is responsible because it's coming from the outside, or the insurance company covers it).

Mommy and Daddy have noticed that I've been trying to sit up more! They also put together my jumperoo! It's SO MUCH FUN! As soon as they can figure out how to upload a video, they will show you my first time in there where I am laughing my head off. :) It was a blast!

I smile at Mommy and Daddy and we all talk - they don't understand me most of the time, but I'm trying, and so are they! We have fun together, and we've been spending lots of time together since all this snow is falling! Mommy has tried to go back to work full time, but has only made a full day once or twice due to all this weather. I was supposed to go to the dr tomorrow for a followup check for my acid reflux, but due to the storm, I won't be going until Monday. Mommy and Daddy should have more stats to post then.

Keep warm everyone!

Eventful week!

Well, on Monday, I turned 10 weeks! It's been a full week since then! This is a picture from when I was helping Mommy do the laundry:Tuesday, Mommy went to work for 5 hours. We got up, she fed me, and then I fell back asleep and she got ready and went to work. Daddy and I had boys time! Fun! At night, it was bathtime! We got out my bathrobe and cute slippers :)

Wednesday, we went to the doctor for our followup visit since last time they put me on Zantac for reflux. The doctor was impressed with the weight I gained - 9oz in one week! I was 11 lbs 13 oz last week, and this week I was 12 lbs 6oz! She told Mommy and Daddy that since I weigh more, we should increase my dose and see how I do on that for a week. Then, we went to visit Mommy's work. I got to meet all kinds of people who had been waiting to see me. They all thought I was so cute! After that, the co-sleeper came in (FINALLY!)! We went and picked it up at Babies R Us. Daddy set it up and I slept for 6 hours straight! I really like it!

On Thursday, Mommy went to work again. She was in a meeting where they welcomed her back and mentioned that they met me, their newest intern! :) After we dropped Daddy off at school, Mommy then took me to see another friend of hers at the Red Cross. Best of all, when I went to sleep that night (1:30am), I slept for 8 hours STRAIGHT! Mommy and Daddy were VERY excited!

This however, didn't last long. On Friday, Mommy wasn't feeling well, so she had to go to the doctor. She wasn't expecting that. It was supposed to be a relaxing day since the weather was yucky out. It was mostly raining, but there were definitely some ice chips in with the rain! She had to be very careful driving. Overnight, I only slept 3.5 hours, then 4 hours, so no big record for me.

Today, I haven't been feeling well (different from Mommy though!). I've been congested, and when I try to nap, I keep waking myself up because I can't breathe. Mommy called the doctor and we went in for a visit so they could check out my congestion and wheezing. By the time we went, of course, I was no longer wheezing, and everything was good. I still only weighed 12 lbs 6 oz, but I guess it's good I didn't lose any weight. Mommy and Daddy are hoping it won't be a long night, but I've been having trouble napping today, so you never know. Wish them luck!
